Every blog has the ability to connect to another by a concept known as Rich Site Summary or Real Simple Syndication - RSS.
Most blogging software providers have RSS as a key function in the blog profile setting. RSS is a particular type of code that provides a summary and title for blog posts to others and alerts others to changes in a blog.
This syndication cycle enables others to quickly peruse content without reading whole posts, alerts them when something new has been posted and most importantly provides others with content that can be used to create sites with direct RSS feeds.
A number of blogging providers also recommend free feedreaders which "catch" RSS created as a result of blog posting and these "feeds" are then translated into readable summarised content. This allows readers who have syndicated their blogs with others to reduce the amount of reading time they would otherwise have going through many blogs.
