Vlog - videoblog - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Videoblogging

A vlog (short for videoblog) is a blog (short for weblog) which uses video as the primary content as it is linked to within a videoblog post and usually accompanied by supporting text, image, and additional meta data to provide a context for the video.

Blogs often take advantage of RSS for syndication to other web sites and aggregator software (rss readers). With the inclusion of RSS enclosures which provides the ability to attach media files to a feed item/blog post, it is possible to bypass the mainstream intermediaries and openly distribute media to the masses via the Internet. Vlogs take full advantage of this technology just as audiblogs have in recent years via the podcast boom.

What is a VODcast ?- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vodcast

"...............a VODcast is an emerging term used for the online delivery of video on demand content via RSS enclosures. The format is used by video weblogs (sometime known as Vlogs ). The video enclosed in a VODcast can be stored on a web server in any file -based container and codec, or streamed from a streaming server. Podcasting clients can usually be set up to open suitable software to play the videos, although iTunes can play VODcasts internally if they are in a suitable format. Both formats have their advantages: file-based media can be sychnronised with portable media players , whilst streaming allows seeking without downloading the full file and better digital rights management ............."

VODcasting - A definition

" ............... VODcasting (also called “vlogging”) - the “VOD” stands for “video-on-demand” - is almost identical to podcasting. The difference is that the content is video versus audio, and the content is more likely to be played on a laptop than a PMA (personal media assistant) or a PDA ( personal digital assistant ) due to their newness and relative expense. What is VODcasting?

"...................VODcasts are subscription services for on-demand video content. The name VODcasting is a combination of VOD (Video On Demand) and (web/broad/narrow)casting.

VODcasting technology lets you automatically publish tv shows, vlogs, news bulletins, videoclips, interviews, e-learning videos, real-estate videos and any other audio/video material to your audience.

Why stream VODcasts instead of downloading?

Less bandwidth and storage - Video titles can be huge files. Don't force all your subscribers to download all your titles. With streams, bandwidth is only used during the actual viewing.

Cool VOD features - Users can instantly view, fast forward, rewind and random view in your titles without having to wait for the title to be completely downloaded.

Accurate statistics - Publishers get detailed statistics about the popularity and viewing time of each title, so they can optimize their formats and ads.

Manage rights - Content is not downloaded or copied, just played back, so you don't offer redistribution facilities, and can therefore easier clear rights for publishing the content............."
